Who we are

Julia Specht

Cat behavior consultant & founder

Julia began her journey with cat behavior in 2022, when she got involved in cat rescue for the first time. She quickly discovered that her strength was in supporting rescuers and fosters through behavior challenges, from guiding introductions to bringing frightened kittens out of their shells. In 2023, Julia became a board member of Artemis Animal Rescue, and found a passion for consent-based socialization methods. She spent 2 years coaching fosters with the Socialization Saves Lives method.

In early 2025, Julia decided that she wanted to gain a greater scientific background in animal behavior, so that she could provide evidence-based solutions to the people she was supporting on a volunteer basis. After pursuing education through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, she realized that there was a way to bring her gift for supporting fosters to a broader population. She launched Park Slope Paws as a way to provide compassionate education and carefully-considered strategies to pet parents who are struggling with challenging behaviors.

As someone who has been worked with cat owners during extremely difficult moments, Julia understands that challenging behaviors from animals can put a massive strain on the lives of their owners. She approaches every situation with sensitivity and empathy, and is dedicated to finding solutions that work for humans as well as cats.

An avid community builder in every area of her life, Julia loves networking and forming connections with veterinarians and other cat behavior professionals. She is currently pursuing her certifications through both IAABC and PPG, and plans to be certified by the end of 2026. In her spare time, she co-runs Brooklyn Horror Society, writes fiction, and watches too many movies.

Meet the Team

Frankie
Head of Marketing

Frankie began her sales career at the precocious age of 6 months, when she successfully convinced her foster parents to keep her around despite insisting that they weren’t going to adopt a cat. She has since led successful campaigns, wherein she has posed on various household objects, that have received tens of impressions. She has no background in SEO or sales psychology, and doesn’t know what a call-to-action is, but she makes up for her lack of industry training with her commitment to getting attention.

Toothless Bill
Director of Operations

Toothless Bill is a nepo baby. He does not know what operations are, and spends most of his working hours playing Farmville. (He’s 12 years old, so he’s senior enough to still use Facebook.) In his defense, his boss doesn’t know what operations are either, so…she can’t really get mad about it. In spite of his admitted incompetence, he is a core part of the team and shows up to work like 70% of the time.
